Changed arrangements for the Universe Ride

18 Mar 2020

Dear members and regular Universe riders, after discussions with fellow members and careful consideration, we still want to ride to and so Saturday's Universe Ride will go ahead.

However we must be sensible and therefore it will be run under the following conditions:

 1. Most importantly, if you have any signs of sickness e.g. fever and hacking dry cough then please do not join any bunch

2. There will be 3 start times and 2 locations as we do not want everyone arriving all at once. Further there we will split into subgroups of 10.

  •  6.10am Start Avg 27 kph - From Officeworks North Parramatta, corner Church Street and James Ruse Drive.
  •  6.20am Start Avg 30 kph - From PETBARN 561 - 565 Church Street, North Parramatta opposite By Street.
  •  6.30am Start Avg 33 kph plus - From PETBARN 561 - 565 Church Street, North Parramatta opposite By Street.

NOTE: On the day, Club Captains and/or Lead riders will be on hand to guide the roll out of smaller groups.

 3. Observe the following CNSW & general guidelines

  • Keep a gap of at least 1.5 metres between riders, including while stopped at intersections
  • Limit groups or bunches to 10 or fewer riders
  • Do not merge bunches, instead ride bye and say high keeping a safe distance
  • All riders must be self-sufficient in case of mechanical issues
  • At cafes, leave helmets, gloves and sunglasses away from the table

4. For ride details and to see which bunch best suits your abilities, please visit: /training-rides/ under “Universe Ride"

5. Finally, please ride with kind consideration towards all road users. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in slowing the spread of COVID-19 in this challenging time for us all.

Whilst riding we believe that we are far away enough from each other, there is still some risk.

We are asking members / riders having flu-like symptoms not to join our bunch rides.

Members clearing their noses or exposing other riders to risk of infection in our rides will be asked to drop off the bunch.

When parking for coffee, gloves must stay with the bike and not on the coffee table, always keep enough "social distance" with people near you and wash your hands with soap whenever it is possible.

Exercise is important for general health and wellbeing and a strong immune system. Please find a healthy and safe balance.
