Social Riding Weekend April 10 to April 13
25 Mar 2026
PCC social riding weekend 2026 - Canberra
Back by popular demand! Parramatta Cycling Club is again having an extended social weekend in
Canberra, riding scenic paths and roads to see the sights and, and of course to catch up with friends.
We will do some great rides with opportunities to catch up in evenings.
Dates:
Friday 10 April to Monday 13 April.
We are flexible - most will arrive Friday evening, and some will have to be home for Monday.
In Canberra:
The weather should be cooling with the leaves starting to change colour. Mornings can be a little
fresh, but the days will be pleasant. It’s a lovely time.
Rides:
We will organise a selection to match our participants, which may include:
- The Lake Burley Griffin circuit, with optional side trips to Arboretum, Mount Ainslie
- Rides out to Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden
- A longer road trip – either to Tidbinbilla or Bungendore.
And more:
We are not just for riders. We welcome families and friends, and as we are handily based near
attractions like the National Gallery, Questacon, Parliament Houses (new and old) and the Old Bus
Depot Markets, there is much to see and do.
Accommodation:
We start the rides in Kingston. This central area has great access to attractions and paths, to local
shops, and many food options, including some pubs (where we will have a gathering on Saturday).
You book your own accommodation. Canberra Marathon will be on the same weekend, so it’s bestto
book early. Some suggested hotels (with indicative cost for a double room as per Booking.com) are:
(a) Between Manuka and Kingston (this is the ideal location - with several serviced apartment
hotels in this area). The Oxley Court Serviced Apartments is a good option, others like Adina
& Manuka Park Serviced Apartments are popular too.
(b) On the Manuka side (best for walking into the Parliamentary Triangle), the Rydges Canberra,
also around $270/night
(c) At Narrabundah (3km drive from Kingston), Ibis Styles and Best Western Garden City around
the $150/night mark.
Cost
It is free to participate. You pay your own expenses.
