06 Nov 2020

Dear members

Welcome to our November update

The main items are:

  1. Changes to Cyclings Administration in Australia

  2. AGM information

  3. Club ride 29 November

  4. First Aid Training

Changes to Cycling Administration in Australia

As from November 1, 2020 Cycling Australia will be incorporated into AusCycling which includes all cycling disciplines Road, Track, BMX & Mountain bike. Parramatta Cycling Club has joined the new organization along with other NSW clubs.

AusCycling will hold & administer:

  • Insurances for members & Clubs
  • Control UCI licenses,
  • Administer membership for all cyclists be they Road, track, BMX, Mountain bike
  • Issue licences

They will have state representation. For NSW, the role and activities of Cycling NSW, while not yet set in concrete, should remain very similar to what it is today. Cycling NSW currently provides pathways for juniors, organizes regional events and coordinates club activities and provides the connection to AusCycling.

What does all this mean for you & me?

  • One licence for all disciplines.
  • Cheaper licence fees for the vast majority
  • We have continuing insurance cover
  • When you renew your licence Parramatta Cycling Cub will be your club
  • There is the promise of better facilities, central lobbying for cycling, central funding, advocacy for rider safety & awareness.
