Donation to TAD - Freedom Wheels
04 Jul 2019
We would like to make you aware of the TAD - Freedom Wheels charity initiative we would like you to join the Club in supporting.
TAD - Freedom Wheels
TAD - Freedom Wheels are based in Northmead. They provide specially tailored bikes to kids living with a disability in NSW. Their team of volunteers build and modify bikes to suit the needs of each child so they can achieve their dream of cycling. Each bike costs just under $2000 with each bike varying due to physical and cognitive disabilities of the individual. Usually bikes are designed and built within 6 weeks to two months however it can take a little longer. They currently have 163 kids on their waiting list some of whom have been waiting for over 6 months for their Freedom Wheels bike. You can view some of our success stories here: https://freedomwheels.org.au/stories/
Since it is such a good fit for our Club, the Club Executive has approved a donation to TAD - Freedom Wheels so that we can donate at least one bike.
We encourage our members who raise money for charities to consider choosing TAD - Freedom Wheels as their chosen charity. They are the current charity partner for this years Bowral Classic and will also be at The Spring Cycle and many other events to come. They are looking for cyclists who are taking part in these events to fundraise and help make a child’s dream a reality. So if any members would also like to get on board and build on the Clubs donation to get that bike or may be 2 with your help, please follow the links below.

A Recipients Story
We’ve attached a video of Mitchel a young boy who first came to us on his third birthday. He is now 16 and has graduated through many bikes. Mitchel lives with Cerebral Palsy and cannot walk or stand unaided. Thanks to the support of his Freedom Wheels he has completed the Spring Cycle numerous times and most recently cycled up Mount Kosciuszko. He averages on 1000km per year now with his local cycling club. Mitchel made this video about his Freedom Wheels bike and how it has changed his life!
